Well, I guess as an introduction I'll tell you guys a a little about my car. About a year ago I bought
a 1980 Chevrolet Corvette L-48 for about 8,000$. Though the 350cu. in. v8 had a decent 190hp, it wasn't the torque monster I expected. About 4 years prior to my buy, my father swapped the 7.4L LS4 454cu. in. v8 for a 6.2L 376 diesel for our Winnebago. The 454 was sitting in my garage since then. So after I concluded that I didn't like the 350 I started thinking about the power I could achieve with the mighty 454! I then spent about a month doing research and saving up my money. Once I was sure I wanted the 454 I immediately started working on the engine. I ordered 2 Holley 750CFM carburetors, Edelbrock performance cylinder heads, an L-88 racing cam, MSD ignition and distributors, Chevy 3500 fuel pump, a 700R4 4 speed automatic transmission, heavy duty Universal joints, some slicks and a nice set of after market side pipe exhausts. All that set me back about 6,000$, but it was worth it! I completed my car about 3 months ago. The torque is unbelievable, I took my car down to the 1/4 drag strip about a week later and here are the results!
Performance
1/4mile 11.42s @ 122mph
Horsepower: 663hp @ 4700rpm's
Torque: 875ft lbs @ 2800rpm's
0-60 : 4.2s
Top speed N/A
I'm very proud of my car. So what do you guys drive?
